Ok, so I am still thinking about this race and even though I have already sent the press release and its final -- I am still thinking about it. I've done 32.5 miles before, but this is different -- this is 50 Miles!! OMG I am really going to do it.
So I thought that I should put some goals to this ol' crazy race:
1. Finish -- whatever that means, but setting out for 16 laps and finishing the race. If this is only thing I can accomplish, then that's ok.
2. Sprint to the Finish -- Like all my marathons I love to sprint to the finish. And the 50K I did just that and no one had a heart attack watching me run by.
3. Complete the course under 15 hours and as much as I love running, the thought of being on my feet (outside of working in the restaurant) that long freaks me out. So I would like to finish before then.
4. Complete the course under 12 hours -- yeah that's a mighty hefty goal, but I can do it!
5. Raise some donations for the Winans-Williams Environmental Action Scholarship
6. And finally have big smiles and hopefully see my friend Jack Russell (of whom we are celebrating our 20th college reunion.)
Oh boy here I come........

50 Miles or BUST!
Well its finally here. In two weeks I will be "attempting" my first 50 mile ultramarathon called the North Face Around the Lake Race in Wakefield, MA. The race will take place in a 3.16 mile loop course around Lake Quannapowitt. In order to complete the ultra, I will have to run 16 laps in about 12-15 hours.
I will start the race at 7:00pm on July 25th and hopefully finish by 12noon on July 26th. I believe I can do it, but because I have not done it before, it feels like my first marathon experience. But its an opportunity to not miss out on. I am excited and scared at the same time -- but that's fine with me.
